Sheltering Arms Institute My Life Room

No Wrong Door (NWD) Virginia on boarded Sheltering Arms Institute in 2020, through joining the NWD, a collaboration was formed between No Wrong Door, Sheltering Arms Institute and Virginia Assistive Technology System (VATS). Sheltering Arms Institute is a 114 bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital serving individuals with severe and complex cases of stroke, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injuries, just to name a few. This collaboration allows Sheltering Arms Institute to feature a variety of assistive technologies in a designated space called the My Life Room. The My Life Room houses a number of assistive technologies from the Social Health Kit. Sheltering Arms Institute staff were trained by VATS on the assistive technologies and patients make appointments with a staff member to explore these devices to assist in making daily life easier as patients transition home.

Sheltering Arms AT Kit — *Social Health Kit* items showcased to patients of Sheltering Arms Institute. Patients can scan QR codes to see how the assistive technologies work.

SAI Facebook Portal and Webcam — Assistive Technologies have short descriptions along with QR codes to showcase how the devices will work for patients of Sheltering Arms Institute. Staff at Sheltering Arms Institute schedule consultations with patients to choose devices which may be helpful for their transition back home.
